The Artist

Everything comes from somewhere. We all build on what came before us, art, science, math , philosophy, medicine, religion, and all the pieces of our everyday lives. Look back as far as we can (and then some) and then come all the way back to today. Whether we are taking it in or rejecting what came before us, it is all there in what we do. We are all part of that. I am a part of that and I draw upon that history to produce my work.

I strive to make sculpture that feels alive, not necessarily realistic (and sometimes quite abstract) but filled with a lightness. I think all things in nature are infused with a light and a weight, sometimes bright and sometimes dark, sometimes nearly weightless and sometimes overwhelmingly heavy. To me it is a spectrum, and if something is on that scale, it has a quality of lightness. As long as there is this light, there is life and you can feel a breeze blowing through it.

Here is an assortment of my work that is lively and lyrical and filled with lightness and dark. Work that has the echos of familiar melodies with contemporary twists.

Thanks for looking!
